Katie and I decided to read to this book simultaneously and we both agreed that working in the public segment of society makes reading books like this hard. We deal with troubled kids in troubled family situations daily, so reading about them isn't the ideal escape; nevertheless, I did enjoy the book. I thought the story was compelling and the social implication somewhat provocative. A tend the feel that if a writer can make me deeply lover or deeply hate a character, they have done something right, and I did indeed find myself hating the father in this book.
