Someone Will Be With You Shortly

I didn't finish it. Too much Lisa. I love Lisa Kogan as a columnist and reading her monthly column is like a satisfying conversation with a bright and interesting woman. But a book of Lisa is like a good conversation that just doesn't end. But I do like the way she talks about being the mother to a girl.
"I kept thinking, will this littler person who's currently occupying space in my uterus have to one day line the borders of her heart with razor wire to stop me from chipping away at her choice of laundry detergent and footwear? How do we keep from becoming trespassers in each other's lives?"
"So, my darling daughter, when you grow up I will tell you that your third birthday party was fantastic - because for the most part it really was. But I might also mention that it's a find thread that sutures us to our dreams. My dream for you will always be sixty-seven ballerinas..."
