Unbroken by Laura Hillenbrand

I heard so many wonderful things about this book from just about every reader I know so I was expecting too much.  It was a fascinating story (survival at sea and in prisoner of war camps) but I didn't find the voice very compelling.  I would say the reading dragged on a bit for me but now that I have been finished for a week or so I have found that I can't stop thinking about it.  It speaks to the American conscious in a way that I hadn't really experienced before.

(Bloghopping from Savannah's blog!) I felt the same way about that book! I read it and it was a little slow in the middle and kind of seemed to linger on, but wow, it made me do a lot more thinking than I usually do after I finish a book. The unfailing and absolute will to survive was astounding to me. I loved that his life was changed in the end and that there was a happy ending. It also made me realize that all the things that made him a dreadfully difficult child, made him most capable of surviving. Sorry, none of my friends read the book and I was excited to comment!
