Lord of the Flies

A student yesterday asked me if the boys in the book would get rescued at the end of the book and I told him I didn't know.  He laughed - of course the teacher has read the book before she starts teaching it.  Teachers just love to do the whole, "I don't know, what do you think" routine.  But the truth is, I really didn't know.  I finished the book at the same time the kids were finishing.  It was fun teaching and reading.  Kept me on my toes to be sure.  I assigned it on a whim after a snow week cut Midsummer Night's Dream short.  I enjoyed the book.  I wanted a little more from allegorical level I had heard so much hype about.  But a good book.
