I finished this book while bent over, reading from a book held open by my feet on the floor, while diffusing my hair to get ready for the book club meeting. I was previously at the gym biking and timing each page turn so that I could finish the book in time. And all this for a book club that turned out kind of disappointing. But I enjoyed the art of this book - the craft - but does anyone ever enjoy a story about a sinister man with no redemption? While reading this book I heard it alluded to three times (once on a t.v. show, another in a book, and another in a common phrase used in conversation) although must admit I was reading it over a four month period in tiny bits and pieces, its not even a big book after all.
"Yet one had ancestors in literature, as well as in one's own race, nearer perhaps in type and temperament, many of them, and certainly with an influence of which one was more absolutely conscious." "Dorian Gray had been poisoned by a book." page 105 and 107

Whoa. I love the quotes you include. And I can totally see you diffusing your hair while finishing the book using your feet to hold it open. Skeels!
